Our Venice culnary tour begins at the Locanda Cipriani on the island of Torcello. Opened since 1935, the Locanda became a  legend after Ernest Hemingway wrote 'Across the River and Through the Trees' during his stay. His impressions and memories of Torcello are forever imprinted on the pages of his novel and as a result, the Locanda became a destination of choice for the exclusive world of European royalty and celebrities, world-renown artists and writers. Enjoy the Locanda’s extensive gardens, their elegant simplicity and tranquil environment.

 Heading to Venice, we'll learn the secrets of Venetian cuisine and cook its most famous dishes. Partake in a cooking demonstration in a private home along the Grand Canal, shop at the Rialto Market and stroll some of the most breathtaking streets in the world.

Benvenuto!!

Arrive to the island of Torcello and Locanda Cipriani at your leisure. Evenings cocktails and introductions in the garden before a multi-course welcome dinner at the hotel’s famed restaurant.


day 2: Italian Culinary Tour

 Explore Torcello

After breakfast we'll have a guided tour of Torcello’s Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, built in 639. Known for its perfect marriage of art and spirituality, the basilica is the oldest in the lagoon. A cooking demonstration in the Cipriani kitchen will be followed by free time to explore the neighboring island of Burano, famous for its lace making.  In the evening, we'll gather for a cooking demonstration and dinner at Burano's famous Gatto Nero seafood restaurant where the owner, Maximiliano, will join us for a drink and let us in on the secrets of running one of the lagoon's oldest restaurants.

day 3: Italian Culinary Tour

Murano Glass Factories

In the morning the owner of Cipriani's will show us around the garden, sharing stories of his family's dynasty and famed guests. We'll then hop on a boat and explore Murano--the historic home of Venice’s glass factories. We'll witness traditional Venetian glass-blowing and eat at a family trattoria. Afternoon cooking class and dinner at a local artist's retreat.


day 4: Italian Culinary Tour

Onward to Venice

After breakfast we’ll transfer to Venice in a private water taxi and settle in at our new accommodations: Domus Orsoni near the Canereggio Canal.  Explore your surroundings--the Jewish Ghetto and canal-side cafés, the Ca’ d’Oro museum and picturesque churches. Lunch on your own before meeting up and taking a boat over to the Lido for a cooking class and dinner at Acqualino cooking school.

day 5: Italian Culinary TourRialto Market & Bacaro Tour

We’re off to the Rialto for a tour of the oldest market in Europe. We’ll visit the area’s famed cichetteria, sampling the popular Venetian snacks and sip prosecco. We’ll continue on our walking tour, which highlights the extraordinary history of Venice.  Free evening.


day 6: Italian Culinary Tour, Venice

St. Marks & the Grand Canal

We'll begin our day with a private tour of St. Marks cathedral, followed by a cooking demonstration and lunch at a home on the Grand Canal. An afternoon boat ride will take us through the canals and the passages of time. We’ll stop and taste the island’s official drink—the spritz before an early dinner and concert.

day 7: Italian Culinary Tour, Venice Buon Viaggio!

After a final breakfast together, depart for the train station or airport. If you’d like to spend a few extra days in Venice, we’d be happy to help with the arrangements.

*Included in the Venice culinary tour price are 3 nights accommodations at the Locanda Cipriani in Torcello and 3 nights at the Domus Orsoni in Venice, all transportation after arriving in Torcello, all group activities, cooking demonstrations and classes, and all meals, except for those not specified in the itinerary (1 lunch and 1 dinner). Also included is a 6-day vaporetto pass for all the island ferries.

A $1000 deposit is needed to secure your place in our Venice Experience. Since the number of participants is limited and accommodations vary, early registration is advised. The balance of the tour is due 60 days prior to departure. If not received by that time, Delicious Expeditions reserves the right to treat the reservation as canceled.
